Overview Trico Unlimited is seeking additional fly-fishing guides for the upcoming season on the Battenkill River. Positions are available for both experienced guides and strong anglers who are new to guiding and interested in learning the craft at a professional level. This is a field-based role focused on instruction, river knowledge, and high-quality client experience rather than high-volume trips. About Trico Unlimited Trico Unlimited is an established fly-fishing instruction and adventure company based in Southern Vermont, known for thoughtful, on-the-water teaching and deep local knowledge of the Battenkill. The operation is led by Orvis-Endorsed Guide of the Year Finalist, Brew Moscarello, who has over 40 years of fishing experience on the river. Responsibilities – Lead half-day and full-day guided fly-fishing trips – Provide clear, patient instruction tailored to client ability – Read water, manage hatches, and adapt tactics to conditions – Rig equipment, select flies, and manage on-river logistics – Maintain a professional, calm, and safety-focused presence – Represent Trico Unlimited with clients, partners, and the public Qualifications – Strong fly-fishing skills and comfort wading moving water – Prior guiding experience preferred but not required – Willingness to learn instructional methods and guiding systems – Physical stamina for long, active days outdoors – Strong communication skills and good judgment on the water – Local river knowledge a plus; training provided What Trico Offers – Mentorship and hands-on training from an established guide team – Work on one of the Northeast’s most respected trout rivers – Competitive seasonal or part-time compensation – A professional, low-ego guiding culture focused on craft and learning – Opportunities to grow responsibility and role over time How to Apply Interested candidates should submit a brief introduction outlining fishing background, guiding experience (if any), and availability for the season.
